This beginner-friendly workshop is Your first real step behind the decks. In 90 minutes, DNA. Member CZECH STRINGS — a multi-genre DJ with 10+ years of experience — walks You through everything You need to know to make Your first mix. No prior knowledge of DJing, music theory, or equipment is required. Zero.
The session starts with the essentials: what a DJ actually does, what their role is, and how it all comes together. From there, CZECH STRINGS explains the gear using the decks available at the spot as a live example, applicable to any DJ setup You might encounter in the future.
* Beatmatching — how to align two tracks in tempo
* Cueing — how to prepare the next track for a seamless entry
* Track structure and phrasing — understanding how tracks are built so You know when to mix
We’ll be working with a Pioneer DJ XDJ-RR, which can be used with USB sticks and Rekordbox.
Nothing is required. If You'd like to bring Your own music on a USB stick, You're welcome to, but it will only work if the stick is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) / FAT32 and the tracks have been analysed in Rekordbox beforehand. If that means nothing to You right now, don't worry. There's plenty of music ready to go.
This isn’t just a demonstration. A part of the workshop is dedicated to hands-on practice, giving You the opportunity to step behind the decks & try the techniques Yourself.
